Pay Range
$ $32.93 Hourly

Job Description

We have an opening for Custodian II (Floorcare) position in the Custodian Shop. You will perform floorcare and custodian duties and may lead a small custodian crew. This position is in the Facilities Services Division within the Infrastructure and Engineering Operations Department. This position may require work at Site 300 in Tracy, California.

This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.

You will

  • Perform intermediate to advanced tasks in the care and maintenance of floors, upholstery, window coverings, and other deep cleaning tasks; operate mechanical scrubber, wet vacuum, wax applicator, and polisher.
  • Perform routine custodial tasks, inside and outside of buildings, which include sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing restrooms and kitchens, removing trash, and replenishing supplies. Maintain custodial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
  • Prepare standard reports including daily task reports, work control documents, work orders, work permits and inventory checklists.
  • Apply skills and knowledge of equipment and supplies applicable to wet and dry vacuums, scrubbers, wax applicators, polishing machines, brooms, mops, and cleaning products.
  • Provide good customer service and effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.
  • Perform leadership tasks, which include but not limited to quality reviews, laundry, supplies, environmental waste collection and disposal, training, and development.
  • Apply all environmental, safety and health requirements in daily tasks; safely operate motor vehicles; ensure proper labeling, dilution, and use of all chemicals Maintain compliance with institutional and job-specific required training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills and experience in floorcare maintenance, utilizing and operating equipment and cleaning chemicals associated with floorcare and custodial work, with the ability to lift floorcare equipment (~50 lbs.) several times a day.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills and experience in commercial/industrial building cleaning tasks, such as but not limited to sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, removing trash, and sanitizing restrooms and kitchens, and the ability to complete job-specific training to accomplish work assignments.
  • Experience interpreting and implementing organizational procedures, multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, adhering to assigned task schedules, with the ability to meet the demands of the work schedule.
  • Proven customer service and communication skills necessary to effectively interact in writing and verbally with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to lead a small custodian crew in a variety of custodial assignments in all types of environments (administrative, shops, and laboratories), including inside and outside of buildings while following all health, safety, and security regulations.
  • Flexibility and willingness to accept change of assignment, work effectively in a team environment, start time, shift, and the ability to work overtime to accomplish goals.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
  • Valid California driver's license.

Qualifications We Desire

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience leading a small crew.

Site 300

Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL. Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis).

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. Also, you must have the ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
