Job Description:
The Center for Packaging and Device Analytics (CPDA) is seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Scientist for a temporary assignment at our West Point, PA site. The CPDA provides physical analytical expertise in support of the production and commercialization of packaging and combination device products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct hands-on laboratory experimentation with primary packaging components (e.g., bottles, blisters).
- Perform standard primary packaging assessments such as moisture ingress and UV transmission.
- Execute mechanical testing methods, including uniaxial tension and torsional testing.
- Utilize general materials characterization techniques.
- Document results meticulously in laboratory notebooks and technical reports.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Technical degree (Associate/BS or higher) with hands-on laboratory experience (academic or professional).
- Experience in analytical method development and validation.
- Proficiency in mechanical testing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel) and Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELN).
- Preferred:
- Experience with standard packaging testing methods.
- Prior experience working in a GMP laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of device validation and design verification.
- Flexible, adaptable, collaborative, and technically curious personality traits.
Additional Information:
- This is a 100% onsite role, lab-based.
- Primary work will be during 1st shift, with occasional flexibility required for 2nd shift (approximately 5% of the time).
- This position focuses on packaging material testing.
