ROLE

The Senior Staff Accountant role at Applied Technical Services involves utilizing advanced accounting knowledge to support the Corporate Accounting department in financial month-end close and consolidations. Responsibilities include overseeing month-end procedures, assisting with audits, mentoring staff accountants, handling fixed asset accounting, tax filings, and supporting Accounts Payable, among other duties.

Responsibilities:

+ Perform and review month end close procedures for multiple subsidiary businesses including preparing and reviewing journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts

+ Assist with the annual external audit

+ Work with departments and subsidiaries across the organization to resolve issues or research Accounting related issues, processes or system migrations

+ Mentor and train staff accountants

+ Fixed Asset accounting, research, identification, entry and depreciation based on corporate policies

+ Prepare and file monthly state sales and excise taxes

+ File and/or review Census Bureau quarterly and annual forms

+ Various efforts to support Accounts Payable

+ Maintain portions of the departments SharePoint site including close calendar and roster

+ Other duties or projects as assigned

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred.

+ 3+ years of progressive accounting experience

+ Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP

+ Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all level of an organization

+ Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results

+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems.
