Job Description:

The Associate Director of New Student and Family Programs must have a passion for working with creative students, and excitement towards contributing to a positive, entrepreneurial, and vibrant campus experience.

Reporting to the Director of Campus Life, the Associate Director of New Student and Family Programs is a student and family facing position that will have primary responsibility for managing all programs which support new students' acculturation and orientation to the college, enhance students' leadership potential and skills, and provide opportunities for students to participate in community service and civic engagement.

Delivering on the long-term strategy and vision that is identified by the Director of Campus Life, the Associate Director is responsible for implementing a dynamic, engaging, informative, and fun on-boarding experience that contributes to student recruitment, satisfaction and retention. In addition, the Associate Director manages Family Programs, and the management of a comprehensive Family Program and initiatives that integrates families into the Berklee community, through a communication and engagement strategy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Under the direction of the Director of Campus Life, work closely with the Associate Director of Student Involvement to ensure that that all campus life units are integrated,
coordinated, and connected in order to fully advance the student experience.

Operationalize the long-term Campus Life strategy and vision that is defined by the Director of Campus Life, as it relates to New Student and Family Programs.
Directly supervise the Assistant Director of New Student and Family Programs.
Manage the planning, implementation, and assessment of all new and transfer undergraduate student orientation programs working collaboratively with campus partners, emphasizing academic success, student development and engagement.
Implement a comprehensive pre-Orientation module for student, parents, and families.
Select and train students, as community connectors and orientation leaders.
Oversee the development of publications to market and recruit prospective students into the New Student Orientation programs.
Plan and implement parent/family programs and resources.
Develop, maintain, and enhance all website, newsletter, and social media activity within the New Student and Family Programs area, including the New Student Orientation website, the Parent and Family website and newsletter, Family Facebook Page, etc.
Plan and implement events designed to facilitate relationship building and support opportunities through Orientation, Family Weekend, and commencement.
Provide timely response, information, and support to family members of Berklee students who seek assistance via telephone, email, and forms of social media such as parent and family programs website, Facebook and Instagram.
Work with campus partners in the implementation of an integrated and coordinated communication strategy for accepted students.

Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions, and other outcomes.

Ability to communicate effectively -orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.
Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate Director of New Student and Family Programs will provide direct oversight and leadership to the Assistant Director of New Student and Family Programs.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: Supervisors are responsible for maintaining an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, coercion or harassment, including sexual harassment. MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a Masters degree in Higher Education Administration, Education or related field. 3-5 years of experience in Higher Education or related field. Extensive experience in a college or university setting is preferred. Supervisory, project management, budget management, assessment experience preferred.
