Role Details

Job Details:
- Position: School Counselor
- Start Date: September 2023
- Hours: 7.5 hours per day
- Salary Level: As per Salary Schedules - Substitute Hourly Rates
- Benefits: None

Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive guidance program for students
  • Offer individual and group counseling
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to support students in addressing behavioral, social, and emotional issues
  • Assist students in achieving academic success

Essential Job Functions

  • Implement school guidance curriculum
  • Guide and counsel students individually and in small groups
  • Participate in orientation activities for new students
  • Collaborate with families of students facing challenges
  • Collect and analyze student information for educational planning
  • Consult with teachers, staff, and parents for student development needs
  • Establish cooperative relationships with parent support groups and community agencies
  • Participate in student behavior modification programs
  • Stay updated on education legislation and participate in professional growth activities
  • Maintain student reports and confidentiality

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Master's degree in school counseling
  • Experience: Prior counseling experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of child development
  • Familiarity with special education regulations
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Ability to exchange information effectively
  • Capable of implementing guidance curriculum
  • Skilled in individual and group counseling
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Capable of working in diverse settings and with multi-cultural populations
  • Team player with strong collaboration skills

Certifications and Requirements

  • Valid Washington State ESA Counselor Certificate
