Summary:


The Asphalt Traffic Foreman manages the on-site performance of work, and supervises and coordinates the crew of workers assigned to a particular job site.

The foreman is primarily concerned with seeing that the workers under them do their job skillfully, safely and efficiently, and that assigned work progresses on schedule.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans the daytoday operations on assigned projects and ensures that proper resources are in place for the timely completion of work, including labor, tools, equipment and material,
  • Participates in the selection process of what crew members to bring on to a job site,
  • Managing of crews in completing the marking and identification of construction zones and areas for striping, lane closures, and installation of barrier walls,
  • Organize relocation of traffic and establishment of required traffic patterns,
  • Responsible for maintaining in like new condition and the cleaning of all existing and temporary traffic signs and any other traffic control devices
  • Supervise; assist laborers and drivers in traffic control responsibilities,
  • Coordinate the traffic control assignment with dispatch,
  • Ability to read, implement and field adjust Traffic Control Plans,
  • Possess an excellent understanding of flagging duties and responsibilities,
  • Communicates and coordinates with thirdparty inspectors, representatives, and others to accomplish operations,
  • Takes responsibility for crew performance as it relates to company goals, safety audits, and following company polies and procedures,
  • Preplans work activities with Superintendent to develop best means and methods, including safety action plans,
  • Maintains a dedication to safety at all times that proper safety equipment is available and used by field personnel,
  • Conducts daily briefing with crew to review production goals, performance feedback, safety, toolbox talks, and schedule, hazards, and to solicit feedback from the workers,
  • Manages all aspects of the assigned daytoday crew,
  • Accountable for ensuring that the completed work meets quality standards,
  • Coordinate and maintain work schedule/deadlines with project managers and other management personnel,
  • Responsible for daily review and daily submittal of crew time sheets,
  • Responsible for accurately reporting daily quantities for work performed, and if appropriate, comparing and harmonizing quantities with others,
  • Must be detailed oriented and able to communicate clearly to crews, management team, and third parties,
  • Must wear proper attire at all times including: safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/closetoed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image,
  • May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
  • Additional duties as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' foreman experience on heavy highway asphalt construction projects,
  • Must posses 5 years of traffic control manager experience,
  • Must maintain CCA or ATSSA TCS Certification,
  • Valid driver's license,
  • Indepth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OSHA guidelines,
  • Ability to read drawing, plans and blueprints,
  • Excellent organization and leadership skills,
  • Ability to effectively communicate,
  • Solid problemsolving skills,
  • COVID vaccination highly recommended,
  • Must be able to pass drug screen and background check
