Length: 13 weeks
Requirements:
- VA License
- 3 years' experience
- Equipment experience required: Tissue processor, Histostar embedding center, Manual microtoms
- Histology skills required: Formalin, Automated/manual microtome, Cuts tissue sections using microtome and cryostat, Cutting blocks, Embedding GI specimens, Embedding large specimens, Embedding molds, Embedding smalls and bigs, Embedding skin techniques, Histology cassettes, Microtomy of fatty tissue, Microtomy of frozen sections, Microtomy of hard tissue, Paraffin wax sections, Precision microtomy, Removing foreign objects, Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) stain
- BLS
- ASCP-HT or ASCP-HTL
- Epic experience preferred

Schedule: 5x8s; 5-5:30a start time, Mondays to Fridays.
DEPARTMENT: Even though the key responsibilities are embedding, cutting, and staining H&Es, we will need this traveler to do other tasks such as filling blocks, slides, and any other tasks in the department.

FLU/COVID VACCINE:
• COVID:
o Verification that each assigned individual is "fully vaccinated" or has received a qualified exemption. An individual is considered "fully vaccinated" if it has been two weeks or more since they completed a primary vaccination series for COVID-19. The completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 is defined as the administration of a single-dose vaccine (such as the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 Vaccine), or such as the administration of all required doses of a multi-dose vaccine (such as the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine).
o If your traveler is requesting a religious or medical COVID exemption, it will be up to the agency to "approve" and provide supporting documentation.
• FLU:
o The Flu vaccine is required during flu season. (Oct 1st - Mar 31st) Declination is only acceptable for medical reasons. Travelers that wish to decline will need a Dr's note stating why they are unable to received the flu vaccination and will be required to wear a mask anytime they are within 6 feet of a patient. Dr's note must be recent and it must be clear that traveler can not receive the flu vaccine for the current season.
