Job Summary
This position will be filled as an Engineer I, II, or III based on the successful candidate's qualifications.
This position fills an important role in
Electric Transmission - System Operations , with the following responsibilities:
Perform, review and analyze highly detailed reliability, power flow and stability studies on the Electric Transmission (ET) System.
Use expert engineering knowledge and principles to schedule, coordinate, and/or devise new approaches and/or alternatives for complex equipment outages on the ET System while not jeopardizing system reliability.
Provide engineering support, expertise and leadership to fellow team members.Provide professional interface between System Operations Planning and Engineering and both upstream and downstream customers.
Provide support to the System Operator(s) for issues related to real time system operations as needed.
Devise new approaches, automation, solutions to problems encountered and ensure compliance with design criteria and standards.
The position will effectively interface with the System Operator(s), Outage Coordinators and PJM's Reliability Engineers to resolve concerns.
Position is required to obtain PJM Transmission Operator Certification, NERC RC Certification and attain a working knowledge of PJM policies and procedures.
Once trained, this position will be placed on a modified rotating shift.Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

**This position qualifies for an Annual Bonus for maintaining PJM Transmission Operator and NERC Reliability Coordinator Certifications in conjunction with Satisfactory Performance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences required for entry into this job include the following:
Engineer I
- 02 years relevant engineering experience (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications)
- 3+ years relevant engineering experience (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications)
- 5+ years relevant engineering experience (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications)
This position highly prefers engineering experience appropriate with title level within electrical transmission, distribution and/or generating stations (prefer experience within an operations or system protection group).
Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead.Provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
Strong personal computer skills.
Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.
In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.)
Equally effective working independently or in team environment.
Proven decision making skills.
Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.
Strong planning, organizational and project management skills
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Education Requirements
Required :
A Degree in Engineering that meets the criteria below (Or have holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.)
Upcoming engineering graduates with a projected graduation date of no later than May 31, 2024, who also meet the engineering criteria will be considered.
REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Must be able to obtain both PJM Transmission Operator and NERC Reliability Coordinator Certifications after beginning employment.
