This is an in-person position, so the candidate should live in/near the Kansas City metro area.

The Business Intelligence Engineer plays a pivotal role in the organization's data strategy by leveraging expertise in data analytics, report/dashboard development, and business intelligence tools. This job requires collaboration with various stakeholders to understand their analytical needs, design and develop robust BI solutions, and provide insights that drive informed decision making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyzes complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business strategy and decision-making; collaborates with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand analytical needs, and deliver solutions that meet business objectives.
- Designs and develops interactive reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms; develops and maintains data models, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity for reporting and analysis purposes.
- Designs and implements ETL processes to extract data from various sources, transform it into usable formats, and load it into the BI environment; optimizes queries, data structures, and BI solutions to enhance performance and scalability.
- Provides training and support to end-users on BI tools and solutions, ensuring adoption and effective utilization across the organization; adheres to data governance policies and best practices to ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Experience: Three or more years experience as a Business Intelligence Developer or similar role, with expertise in data analysis, report development, and BI tools required. Must be proficient in SQL and database technologies (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL). Experience with BI platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, SSRS, or similar tools is also required along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. Must be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Knowledge of ETL processes, data modeling techniques, and data warehousing concepts and experience working with APIs and integrating third-party systems is essential. Experience with Cloud Technologies, automation and ESRI/GIS or Geospatial knowledge preferred.
Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology related field is required. Additional relevant experience may substitute for education.
