MD Anderson Cancer Center is hiring for an Assistant Manager for the Pickens Cafe' in the Texas Medical Center. This position will supervise the daily area operation and enforce policies and procedures.

Must be available to work various shifts during hours of operation, with rotating weekends and holidays required. May be moved to new locations and/or shifts as operations dictate.

Dining Services offers eight unique dining venues spread across the Texas Medical Center, an exceptional on-sight catering department, and two coffee bars located in The Woodlands and West Houston.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

Supervisory:
Supervises the execution of daily, weekly and monthly cleaning duties. Recruits, orients, trains and counsels personnel. Completes performance evaluations. Delivers in-services. Schedules staff. Enforces departmental and institutional policies & procedures. Oversees daily operations including the assignment and supervision of personnel, procurement of supplies, and the service of food. Performs Cashier I, Cashier III, FSW I, FSW II, Clerk and Supervisors as needed. Formulates and implements department policies.

Financial, Inventory Management, Safety and Sanitation:

Responsible for the activities affecting monthly financial results to include food cost and waste reduction, labor cost and overtime, M&O costs.

Responsible for strict adherence to cash handling policies and procedures. Assists cashiers in preparing Daily Sales Reports.

Ensures that deposit receipts are attached to paperwork and are signed off by the cashier as outlined in the cash handling policy.

Ensures money is deposited at the end of the shift and all deposit paperwork is completed. Performs periodic till audits. Ensure that food service employees follow excellent sanitation practices.

Customer Service:
Promotes a pleasant atmosphere in the department through prompt, courteous service to patrons and co-workers. Models teamwork. Ensures excellent service is provided to all customers. Take appropriate action when customer service complaints arise.

Monitors the levels of inventories that are in each storage area and insures employees are following FIFO method of inventory rotation.

Ensures that employees maintain well-stocked area by their replenishing of condiments, food items and paper items throughout the shift.

EDUCATION:

Required:
Associate's degree in Hotel or Restaurant Management, Institutional Management, Foods and Nutrition or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:
Three years of supervisory experience in food service or related field. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:


Must have ServSafe Certification Accredited by the American National Standards Institute and the Conference for Food Protection (ANSI) within 30 days of entry into job.


OTHER:
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
