About the Sr. Engineering Manager Position at Betterment

In this senior role within Betterment's SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) unit, you'll be part of the Developer Experience team, working closely with various engineering groups to support engineers through the development process. Your squad's focus will be ensuring a seamless journey for engineers from committing code to deployment, providing them with necessary tools, efficient workflows, and prompt feedback loops.

As an Engineering Manager, you'll take charge of a mission-aligned roadmap, oversee its implementation, and collaborate with team members and other engineers to identify and prioritize tasks that enhance our engineering performance. Crucial to this role is striking a balance between introducing new features and maintaining system stability and scalability, all while nurturing and expanding a team of exceptional engineers.

In the realm of Site Reliability Engineering at Betterment, our focus is on empowering the entire engineering organization, setting high standards and influencing a tech landscape that exceeds our current status. Working closely with product teams, our SRE squads deliver infrastructure and tools essential for providing value to Betterment's clientele.

This senior position will be based in our NYC office. Below, we've provided an overview of the base salary range for this role. However, the actual compensation may vary based on factors such as location, experience, and performance. A Glimpse Into Your Daily Routine

  • Design and implement abstract models throughout the development process to simplify tasks for our developers.
  • Develop and maintain frameworks, tools, and infrastructure to enhance the speed and quality of our engineering teams.
  • Lead and guide engineers within the senior-focused SRE team.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead large team projects and concurrent initiatives in collaboration with senior engineers.
