Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Water Resources Engineer in Santa Barbara, CA, you will work on complex projects involving innovative urban stormwater management and natural surface water systems, including sustainable green infrastructure planning studies, urban stormwater infrastructure design and infrastructure, flood mitigation practices, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis including stream restoration, surface water, watershed, and stormwater runoff monitoring/modeling, industrial and construction site NPDES permitting support and inspections, & Clean Water Act regulatory support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing, and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments;
  • Developing innovative green infrastructure solutions for the urban environment;
  • Applying innovative hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, from 1-D to 3-D transport models;
  • In-stream and urban stormwater water quality monitoring, modeling, and data analysis;
  • Reviewing state and federal regulations & permits pertaining to surface water;
  • Preparing technical reports; and
  • Interacting with client representatives.
Education and Licensure:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering, natural resources science (e.g., fisheries, biology, ecology etc.). (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years (5+ preferred) of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills. (required)
  • A general understanding of stormwater BMPs (selection, performance, and design). (preferred)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to stormwater management. (preferred)
  • An understanding of urban sources and fate and transport processes for typical stormwater pollutants. (required)
  • Experience with modeling and design software tools such as SWMM, SUSTAIN, HEC-RAS, SBPAT, LSPC, HSPF, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD. (preferred)
  • Experience with design software tools such as AutoCAD and MicroStation. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. drivers license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified California locations below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntecs total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $79,760
  • Maximum Salary: $122,040
