The Svendsen Laboratory, part of the esteemed Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Regenerative Medicine Institute, is seeking dedicated individuals to contribute to our dynamic research group. Our mission focuses on the study of neurodegenerative diseases using stem cells for disease treatment and modeling. Dr. Clive Svendsen, with over two decades of experience in this field, combines his expertise with cutting-edge technologies like inducible pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells). The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in stem cell biology and neuroscience. By exploring cell growth and differentiation, we aim to enhance cell transplantation and disease modeling techniques. The Research Associate I will assist in conducting research on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and project team. Responsibilities include performing various experimental protocols, maintaining lab supplies, and executing routine molecular biology procedures. This role does not involve supervisory duties.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintaining detailed project records
- Supporting animal husbandry
- Managing lab equipment
- Handling sample processing
- Updating clinical databases
- Performing lab maintenance tasks
- Assisting new lab members
- Operating specialized equipment
- Ensuring adherence to safety protocols
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in biological science
- 1-2 years of lab experience preferred
- Understanding of research objectives and microscopy
- Familiarity with lab procedures and organization
- Database management and computer skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team
- Flexible schedule and willingness to travel
