Clinical Program Senior Advisor - BCGP / LTC Focused

POSITION SUMMARY

  • The Senior Clinical Geriatric Consultant Pharmacist will support quality, safety, and trend initiatives within the Express Scripts Provider Engagement Department while incorporating principles unique to a LTC SNF setting.



LOCATION:
VIRTUAL; up to 25% travel required


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Identify gaps and influence change/enhancements to business processes, policies, workflows, and system infrastructure to improve performance results, organization effectiveness and/or systems/quality/services based on broad view of the organization.
  • Support pharmacy operations and research for claims adjudication, formulary management and STAR metrics.
  • Develop, document, and execute intervention plans utilizing the most clinical and economical effective medication treatment per protocol or clinical guidelines.
  • Recognize opportunities, initiate, and implement changes to improve current processes and member outcomes based on medication trends, utilization, costs, and top indications.
  • Recommend medications, including initiation, continuation, discontinuation, and alternative therapies based upon established protocols.
  • Participation on client's internal Quality Improvement Committee (QIC), Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee (P&T), and other relevant groups as appropriate.
  • Review, analyze, and recommend response Acumen Patient Safety and Operational reports.
  • Provide patient and health care professional education and medication information.
  • Utilize Express Scripts' multiple data analytics programs and tools to monitor and analyze trends in clients' providers prescribing and collaborates with client, client's ESI account team and others to optimize opportunities to educate prescribers with the goal to improve clinical and financial outcomes and support trend management client and Express Scripts' strategic goals.
  • Maintain record of activity and track clinical and financial impact to client and client's members.
  • Effectively participate in and contribute to staff meetings, committees and departmental work groups to share best practices, improve processes and/or other items relating to provider engagement.
  • Participate and contribute in formal and informal training programs and professional development activities which may include taking, developing and/or conducting sessions.
  • May perform additional duties as determined by the client or management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current endorsement as a Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (BCGP)
  • Current Pharmacist License in good standing and (at least) 5 years of relevant long-term care experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional projects including but not limited to investigative process, decision making, strategy development, problem solving, organization and analytical skills.
  • Experience servicing Medicare lines of business, Medicaid experience beneficial
  • Client management and PBM experience preferred
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills required
  • Proven leadership skills, team-orientation, a proactive management style and strong commitment to client service a must
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, prioritize, resolve complex issues and have strong project management skills
  • Ability to learn multiple internal reporting and analytic tools and use advanced problem solving skills
  • Work independently, as well as collaboratively

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 116, ,600 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
