Administers and directs the administration of physical agents and procedures used in PMR with specialized skills as prescribed by a referring physician to enhance the patient's functional status.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduation from a Physical Therapy program with B.S., M.S., DPT, or certificate approved by the council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Physical Therapy Association.


Experience:

  • Entry-level (0+ years of experience)

Key Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills to collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
  • Proficiency in evaluation, treatment techniques, and developing treatment plans to achieve therapy and patient goals

Knowledge Base:

  • Proficiency in physical medicine theories at an advanced level.
  • Understanding of theory, precautions, and contraindications for physical medicine agents and procedures on patients of all ages. Ability to offer guidance to Outpatient staff.
  • Advanced knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and psychosocial factors to evaluate treatment effects on body functions and structures across different patient demographics.
  • Familiarity with isolation, sterile technique, and their applications in physical medicine.
  • Understanding of PMR policies, procedures, and hospital protocols

Required License/Certification:

  • Valid California license for Physical Therapy from Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Medical Quality Assurance or the Physical Therapy Examining Committee, or license pending approval
  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association
  • Annual AB508 certification/recertification required for staff in Geropsych and ED Departments
