Job Description:

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join a reputable neurology office. The Medical Assistant will support the neurology team by providing clinical and administrative assistance, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation within the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Interaction: Greet patients upon arrival, verify patient information, and update medical records. Ensure a welcoming and professional environment.
  • Clinical Support: Assist neurology physicians with patient examinations, diagnostic tests, and treatments. Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Vital Signs and Medical History: Take and record patients' vital signs, medical histories, and symptoms. Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Assist with neurological diagnostic tests such as EEGs, EMGs, and nerve conduction studies. Ensure proper preparation and positioning of patients.
  • Patient Education: Provide patients with information about their conditions, treatment plans, and medications. Answer any questions and provide educational materials as needed.
  • Administrative Tasks: Schedule appointments, manage patient referrals, and handle insurance verification. Assist with billing and coding as required.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with other healthcare providers, laboratories, and pharmacies to ensure continuity of care. Manage communication between patients and the neurology team.
  • Infection Control: Follow infection control policies and procedures to maintain a clean and safe clinical environment. Properly dispose of biohazard materials.
  • Emergency Assistance: Assist in medical emergencies and provide basic first aid if necessary. Follow office protocols for emergency situations.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a medical assistant in a neurology or specialized medical office is preferred. Familiarity with neurology-specific procedures and terminology is advantageous.
  • Certification: Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program is required. CPR certification is also required.
  • Skills: Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact compassionately and professionally with patients and their families.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to patient care.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a medical assistant program from an accredited institution.
