Cook Position at Detention Center
Pay Rate: Part-time Full-time - $19.00
The cook plays a crucial role in preparing food for the detention center, ensuring that all health and safety standards are met. They follow established recipes and quantities to prepare menu items safely and accurately. Cleaning the kitchen equipment and work areas is also a key responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Cooks and prepares a variety of food following standardized recipes
- Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, and chopping food items
- Operates kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, and mixers
- Cleans and sanitizes work areas and utensils
- Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude
- Adheres to safety policies and procedures
- Responsive to residents' dietary needs
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a cafeteria or food service setting
- Knowledge of food preparation and safety regulations
- Ability to obtain food safety certification
- Basic math and counting skills
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work varied hours, weekends, and holidays
- Communication and teamwork skills
- Pass background check and drug screen
