We are seeking highly organized and motivated individuals to prepare meals for Navy Recruits, Sailors, and Staff at Naval Station Great Lakes.

Operating multiple galleys serving over 9 million meals annually.

You will have the responsibility of preparing meals following designated schedules, recipes, and product specifications.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Prepare and store food according to specified recipes and product requirements.
• Ensure timely and appealing food presentation.
• Assist in managing food costs by cooking progressively, batch cooking, and monitoring temperatures.
• Adhere to excellent food service and sanitation practices following HAACP guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness in work areas by daily cleaning and sanitizing equipment, preparation areas, and workstations.
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Report any faulty equipment to the relevant Assistant Manager.
• Interact with customers and colleagues courteously.
• Perform other assigned duties.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Able to obtain base security clearance.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not mandatory.
• Prior food service experience required.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

• Proficient in basic mathematical calculations.
• Familiarity with the American system of weights and volume, including conversions of weights, measurements, and sizes as necessary.
• Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions.

PHYSICAL/

SENSORY DEMANDS:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Full range of motion with the capability to stand for extended periods.
• Requirement to wear all necessary safety equipment including steel-toed, slip-resistant shoes.
