Job Title: Environmental Scientist/Engineer Intern at FPM Remediations, Inc.

Overview:

FPM Remediations, Inc. is seeking summer interns to join the team at our Oneida, NY office from mid-May to mid-August 2024. The paid internship offers 40 hours of on-site work per week, providing students with hands-on experience in environmental site investigation and remediation.

Primary Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of an FPM Project Manager, the Environmental Scientist/Engineer Intern will assist with various environmental investigation and remediation projects:
  • Conduct fieldwork including collecting soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and air samples.
  • Support office operations through data entry, analysis, and reporting.
  • Shadow different office roles and receive training in diverse tasks.
  • Manage databases, input information, and research project sites.
  • Provide clerical support to organize documents and maintain files.

Education and/or Experience:

The ideal candidate is a current college student pursuing a bachelor's degree in environmental science or engineering with:
  • Core coursework in geology/earth science, chemistry, math, and physics.
  • Excellent communication and writing abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and preferably ArcGIS.
  • Effective time management and critical thinking skills.
  • Self-motivation and a valid U.S. driver's license.

Physical Demands:

This role involves various physical demands to perform essential job functions. While accommodations can be provided for individuals with disabilities, the position entails:

• Standing, walking, sitting, using hands and tools, operating vehicles and equipment, and more.
• Lifting heavy equipment/supplies up to 50 lbs (please note, heavier items require additional personnel).

The work environment includes field sites and demanding tasks, working 10-hour days, potentially in adverse conditions (cold, hot, etc.), and remote locations.
