Overview:


The Lidar Callibration Analyst will work individually and as part of a team to support data production; producing finalized data deliverables based on internal and client requests.

The Analyst has knowledge of all aspects of the lidar calibration workflow, performs rigorous QA/QC, and assists in training other team members.

This role oversees consistency across finished products and works to develop process efficiencies and improve methodologies.

A successful Analyst will become comfortable with Strip Align and TerraMatch operations in order to combine swaths of output sensor data into spatially accurate products for clients and other production purposes.

Communicating and relaying the production status of these processes will be a key component of the analyst's responsibilities as well as ensuring that absolute and relative accuracy standards are maintained.

Responsibilities:

Demonstrates strong communication in a team-based environment

Takes ownership of work within the team for execution and QA/QC

Demonstrates good judgment in the selection of the methods and techniques in problem resolution and troubleshooting

Performs relative and absolute adjustments to lidar data

Improves and communicates data processes and workflows

Performs rigorous QA/QC and data finalization practices; performs QA/QC on processed data to ensure it meets accuracy requirements

Uses ESRI, CADD and vector-based software at a competent level

Automates workflows and tasks if needed

Assists in the monitoring of technical KPIs (workflow velocity and throughput)

Takes initiative to improve processes and efficiencies

Provides mentorship and training to other team members

Can apply creative ideas in practical application

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Prior experience in sensor or swath calibration. Preferred experience using software suites like TerraSolid and StripAlign

Understanding of sources of error in airborne lidar datasets and visualizing orientation errors

Airborne and/or mobile trajectory processing

Maintains excellent data management and file organization practices

Demonstrates problem solving ability across software platforms

Ability to work well within a team environment

Provides oversight of tasking to ensure benchmarks and priorities are met

Demonstrates efficiency, accuracy in tasks, and organization

Ability to maintain a professional and positive demeanor in times of stress

Strong critical thinking skills

Ability to train others using clear communication and provided program tools

An understanding of datums and projections

Strong creative aptitude and ability to contribute to the development of the unique workflow methods


Qualifications:

Minimum

Qualifications:

6+ months of experience in a professional work environment

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in a related field

Confident knowledge of ESRI software and TerraSolid products

Proficiency in MS Office Suite

Demonstrated organizational skills

Preferred

Qualifications:

1+ years' experience in a technical, professional, geospatial working environment

Prior experience in sensor or swath calibration.

Experience with Bayesmap StripAlign

Experience with alignment of terrestrial or mobile lidar datasets; prior experience with trajectory manipulation

Master's degree in a science, math, ecology or engineering program

Knowledge of Python, CADD, and Visual Basic; experience creating scripts/models/macros in multiple GIS/lidar platforms

Ability to understand and apply Python and Visual Basic

GNSS/IMU processing experience
