Job Description: The Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) will work under the supervision of licensed speech-language pathologists to support students with speech, language, and munication disorders. The primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Assisting in the implementation of individualized treatment plans developed by licensed speech-language pathologists to address students' speech and language goals.
  2. Conducting speech and language therapy sessions with small groups or individual students under the supervision of licensed speech-language pathologists.
  3. Providing support in the classroom setting to facilitate students' munication skills development during academic activities.
  4. Collaborating with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to ensure consistency and integration of speech and language goals across different environments.
  5. Monitoring and documenting students' progress towards speech and language goals, and reporting findings to supervising speech-language pathologists.
  6. Assisting in the preparation and organization of materials, resources, and equipment necessary for speech and language therapy sessions.
  7. Participating in professional development activities to stay updated on best practices and advancements in the field of speech-language pathology.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, munication Sciences and Disorders, or related field.
  • Certification as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility for certification.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with speech and language disorders, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and munication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and techniques in speech-language pathology.
  • Ability to adapt therapy approaches to meet the diverse needs of students with varying abilities and munication profiles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
  • Experience working with school-aged children in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
  • Proficiency in Spanish or other languages monly spoken by students and families in the munity.
