In this role as an L5 Software Development Engineer in the Fulfillment Optimization org, you'll be part of a team responsible for a collection of machine learning models that predict and forecast outbound fulfillment outcomes. Your contribution will rely on modern research science techniques, large-scale data analytics, and high-performance distributed computing to deliver value to customers.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop a long-term vision for the space
  • Guide technology investment in a scalable manner
  • Collaborate with multiple customers across varying constraints
  • Influence the overall delivery strategy alongside a team of ML scientists
  • Drive the product roadmap and advise leadership on technical direction
  • Spearhead system architecture and best practices
  • Coach and develop junior engineers

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in full-stack development, excellent technical ability, effective communication skills, and a drive to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. You must be willing to experiment with new approaches, mentor the team, and make data-driven decisions that align with business needs.

You should operate autonomously to balance software and machine learning products, continuously iterating to address downstream requirements. Technical proficiency in software, machine learning, and data analytics is crucial to invent, evolve, improve, and simplify signals that maximize impact and savings for Amazon.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
