JOB SUMMARY
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

A Finance & Budget Supervisor oversees and participates in the establishment of accounting practices, monitors financial performance and budgets, forecasts future financials, ensures the teams follow the established accounting practices, and applies expert level principles of finance and accounting to ensure the proper and accurate distribution of cost
Employee will be responsible to perform the following functions/duties:

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, work direction and / or training to accounting personnel
  • Supervise the performance of work assigned to team, address any performance issues and conduct annual reviews for each team member
  • Apply knowledge of practices and procedures to deal with issues or research problems that require further definition before resolution
  • Oversee preparation of monthly and/or semi-monthly invoices using the required accounting system
  • Prepare, research, resolve, and enter recurring and reversing journal entries and inter-company voucher transfers
  • Lead preparation of audit schedules, reports, and other financial data for internal/external auditors and departments
  • Create and maintain files within the existing financial software and assist in the testing of financial upgrades
  • Verify the proper distribution of charges to specific contracts/accounts
  • Reconcile asset and liability accounts
  • Monitor financial performance, providing reports and recommendations as needed
  • Oversee financial transactions, including a/p, a/r, payroll & gl
  • Maintain and establish accounting job codes
  • Develop necessary financial training and provide expert-level support to accounting staff members
  • Collaborate with department heads to review and analyze departmental needs and budgets; providing guidance and support in financial decision making
  • Support the project management department with accurate accounting information for projects
  • Perform other job-related duties, as required HIGHLY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of financial principals, practices & regulations
  • Ability to effectively communicate financial information to multiple forums as needed
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to provide guidance and support to finance & non-finance team members
  • Familiarity with government accounting, JOCAS (Job Order Cost Accounting System), MIPR (Military Interdepartmental Purchase Request), FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) Fiscal Year vs Calendar Year and voucher reimbursements a plus REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE A bachelor's degree in accounting and a minimum of 15 years of job-related experience or equivalent are required for this position
A master's degree in finance is strongly desired
In addition, a Finance and Budget Supervisor must possess the following qualifications:

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards
Occasional lifting (up to 30 pounds); constant sitting and use of a computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; and constant mental alertness are required
The employee must be able to work duty days in excess of eight hours and perform shift and weekend work to meet required schedule demands
Travel to remote company work locations may be required
