Lead Registered Veterinary Technician

Bethel Animal Hospital is looking for a Lead Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. We offer a $2,000 Sign-on Bonus for the role. Join our 5-doctor hospital that has been serving Central Ohio since 1996, providing a wide range of services including general care, surgery, acupuncture, dental care, and radiology.
Clinic Hours:
Monday-Friday 8a-7p, Saturday 8a-4p. Compensation ranges from $29-32/hr based on experience. As a Lead Veterinary Technician, you will utilize advanced veterinary technical skills and oversee team management, training, coaching, and mentoring new technicians. Your responsibilities will include running appointments efficiently, providing feedback to teammates, ensuring accuracy in Technician appointments, maintaining scheduling, inventory, and machine upkeep.
Collaboration with the Practice Manager is essential, requiring strong communication and leadership skills. Time management and punctuality are crucial.
Job Summary:
The Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) will lead and train the medical support staff of a small animal facility, following hospital policies and procedures and offering medical care within legal guidelines. Effective communication, attention to detail, and organizational proficiency are key qualities for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and uphold Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
- Perform all tasks related to a Licensed Veterinary Technician role.
- Collaborate with the Inventory Manager for purchasing pharmaceutical supplies and medications, including managing controlled substances and surgery logs.
- Ensure proper inventory of pharmaceuticals, equipment, and supplies.
- Stay informed on preventive healthcare recommendations and educate clients on various veterinary services and products.
- Assist in hospital operations including answering calls, scheduling appointments, and addressing client inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state animal health laws, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Train and support veterinary staff in technical duties and client education.
- Provide feedback to superiors on personnel matters and performance evaluations.
- Facilitate departmental meetings and manage the clinic's overall workflow.
- Create technical schedules aligned with clinic needs, monitor costs, and arrange shift coverage.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in conduct with clients, remaining composed in stressful situations.
- Comfortable working with animals, handling medical crises efficiently.
- Ability to administer injections and explain medication details to clients.
- Knowledgeable in anesthesia, recovery processes, and preventive care.
- Skilled in practice management software, communication tools, and computer operation.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of client service principles and quality standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capable of maintenance tasks, equipment care, and inventory management.
