Accentuate Staffing is working with a growing medical device company in the Durham, NC area. The Automation Engineer plays a vital role in optimizing operational efficiency and productivity within manufacturing. Key responsibilities include collaborating with various departments to identify and implement cost-effective processes, developing and maintaining automation solutions, and providing technical support to Automation Technicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and improve manufacturing processes, aiming to enhance quality while reducing costs.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new automation processes, ensuring seamless integration and efficient operation.
  • Train Automation Technicians in equipment operation and maintenance, fostering a culture of expertise and efficiency.
  • Manage process documentation and operating instructions to ensure clarity and compliance with standards.
  • Proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues with automation processes to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
  • Liaise with suppliers to source components and services for automation systems, ensuring reliability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and innovation, collaborating with colleagues to implement solutions.
  • Stay informed about technical developments in Automation Engineering to continuously enhance expertise and capabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong problem-solving skills and technical process engineering expertise.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and project management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in PLC and HMI systems, with preferred experience in Allen-Bradley and Kuka robotics.
  • Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices and familiarity with standard Process/Automation Engineering principles.
  • Bachelors degree in engineering preferred, with at least 3 years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
  • Manufacturing experience required, with knowledge of cGMP and ISO 13485 standards preferred.
  • Experience with manufacturing process start-up and validation is advantageous, as is Lean Six Sigma certification.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors degree in engineering preferred, and 3+ years experience in industrial automation / controls engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Manufacturing experience required; cGMP and ISO 13485 experience preferred.

Manufacturing process start-up experience preferred.

Validation experience preferred.

Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
