The Director of Medical Safety Officer within the Pharmaceuticals division plays a key role in evaluating the safety of assigned products. They lead cross-functional teams to oversee product safety and benefit risk strategies, serving as the primary liaison regarding overall product benefit/risk assessments.

In this role, the Medical Safety Officer collaborates with various departments to ensure timely safety assessments that characterize product safety profiles. They communicate potential risks to relevant stakeholders and authorities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and implementing risk mitigation plans.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Strategically lead Safety Management Teams for assigned products, overseeing safety surveillance and risk management activities
  • Provide medical expertise within global teams, influencing clinical protocols to address safety concerns
  • Contribute to key regulatory and clinical documents with safety input
  • Effectively communicate medical safety evaluations to leadership and stakeholders
  • Lead health authority meetings and evaluate potential acquisition opportunities
  • Define and strategize safety assessment approaches, review medical assessments, and contribute to department-wide initiatives
  • Provide oversight on safety assessment and risk management processes

Qualifications
  • Must be a Physician (MD or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years of pharmacovigilance experience or relevant medical experience
  • Demonstrated clinical medicine skills with board certification preferred
  • Experience in Neuroscience or Ophthalmology Therapeutic Areas is advantageous
  • Proficiency in drug development, clinical trial methodology, and global safety regulations
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Health Authority presentations is a plus

Required Technical Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to lead global cross-functional teams and build consensus
  • Strategic thinking with a global perspective and a strong analytical mindset
  • Proficient in evaluating safety data and presenting findings clearly
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices and Pharmacovigilance regulations
  • Excellent time management and prioritization abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

The base pay range for this position is $186,000 to $322,000 annually.

Note: Compensation and benefits for candidates hired internationally may vary based on local market standards. Employees are eligible to participate in various benefit programs according to plan terms.
