We're looking for a transformational breadth engineering leader with experience, expertise and passion in solving complex cross-cutting engineering challenges that cut across multiple Core Infrastructure Services.

We have several opportunities to take our critical foundational compute, storage, physical and virtual networking services that power the next gen OCI Cloud to the next level.

We need you to challenge existing engineering assumptions and boundaries to scale our next generation cloud to meet our ambitious business goals.

These are exciting times in our space - we are young, growing fast, and are starting to be a recognized as a key player in the infrastructure business, and we still have a long way to go.

In this role, you will be working closely with OCI leadership and architecture teams on some of the most business critical, challenging, and complex architecture initiatives that move the business needle.

With your superb technical, research and analytical capabilities along with excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to drive the best org level outcome, you'll partner with the existing technical leaders across the organization on these initiatives.

You will brainstorm, identify, gain consensus and drive innovation for the core infrastructure services and be a force multiplier for the next generation of engineers on how to take on such projects.

You will envision and collaborate with executives for investment and assist the service teams in driving the software design and development for major improvement initiatives in the core services.

Making these deep architectural changes calls for an outstanding builder and technical leader with a breadth of knowledge and established industry track record of success in leading large cloud scale projects.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:
Design and build customer-facing cloud services that are scalable, reliable, and performant.

Work across core infrastructure service teams (compute, storage, physical and virtual networking, and data center architecture) to understand challenges, identify opportunities, and build consensus to drive architectural changes across these services.

Regular communication with C-level executives, including technology reviews.
Foster and maintain strong/positive relationships across other groups and teams within OCI and Oracle.
Ensure successful technology releases based on team, division, and company priorities.

Stay abreast of the latest innovations in the cloud technology space and apply them as appropriate to Oracle's Core Infrastructure service offerings.

Lead by example, setting a clear culture of teamwork, high expectations, success, and customer focus.
Recruit and retain the best technical talent for OCI.
Take responsibility for horizontal initiatives across Oracle, including next-generation system definitions, and drive adoption over multiple businesses.
Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of software engineering.
Develop senior-level customer & partner relationships as required.

Preferred Skills and Experience:


Exceptional communication skills, technically fearless, and a strong product sense with the ability to seek and absorb business context, lead, and develop engineering culture, and exhibit good judgement exercised through developed critical thinking.

15+ years' experience delivering and operating highly available distributed systems at commercial cloud scale including multiple systems.

Breadth of experience in core infrastructure services (compute, storage, networking as well as the underlying data center architecture) with sufficient depth and expertise in two or more areas.

Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.

Strong understanding of compute services, server hardware design & trends, server virtualization, network protocols, physical networking, virtual networking, databases services, storage services, and distributed persistence technologies.

Working familiarity with data center architecture - power, cooling, and physical networking architecture.
Education
A Bachelors' degree is preferred. An advanced degree is a plus.

US:

Hiring Range:
from $161,600 to $338,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off:
Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits.

For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
