Caterpillar is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Manager in Athens, GA. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing operation by providing tooling, processes, equipment, etc. through coordination of a technical staff assigned to provide for the needs of the shop operation.

**What you can look forward to in this role:**

+ Provide Technical Expertise and Support for the Manufacturing Engineering Team

+ Lead the Planning and Manufacturing Engineering team to achieve safety goals, capacity requirements, product cost and quality commitments.

+ Manage Capital projects to achieve goals related to RFI approval, spend targets, and expense budgets for smaller projects.

+ Ensure that the 5-year capital plan positions the Fabrications teams to achieve long-term PQVC (People, Quality, Velocity and Cost)

+ Coordinates the installation of new machines and equipment and process changes to provide the most efficient and economical manufacture of quality parts.

+ Ensures optimum utilization of equipment and space by coordinating the layout of areas such as storage areas, test equipment, etc. to accommodate the changing production requirements.

+ Establishes standards and works with shop personnel to resolve problems related to process, tooling, equipment, etc.

+ Supervise a work unit of management and salaried employees where planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reviewing work of subordinates is required.

+ Serve as a liaison between engineering and manufacturing teams.

**A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:**

+ **Decision Making and Critical Thinking** : Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

+ **Capacity Planning & Management** - MFG: Knowledge of tools, approaches and practices for determining production demand and ability to manage resources needed to provide satisfactory levels of service.

+ **Lean Manufacturing** : Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.

+ **Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies** : Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.

**Top Candidates for this position may also have:**

+ A Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline

+ 5 years of experience in a supervisory role.

+ 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.

+ Project management experience
