Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct swimming lessons following YMCA guidelines and predefined lesson plans
- Establish genuine connections with students and parents, fostering a sense of community and encouraging participation
- Inform individuals about aquatics programs, assist with program inquiries, and guide them towards suitable options
- Maintain necessary records such as attendance and progress reports
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as per schedule
- Adhere to all YMCA policies, safety protocols, and procedures, including emergency measures and pool regulations
- Organize class equipment and address any equipment issues promptly
- Provide guidance and oversight to class aides when assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum age of 16 years
- Possession of YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent (required within 90 days of employment)
- Valid certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen
- Demonstrated proficiency in swim instruction in line with YMCA standards, including knowledge of various swim strokes
- Passion for interacting with individuals of all age groups
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service abilities
