ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create a positive environment promoting appropriate behavior and successful learning.
  • Prepare and serve students nutritious meals in a clean and healthy environment.
  • Prepare the meals to meet all state and federally-mandated standards and nutritional requirements.
  • Communicate with school Director and/or owner to order, plan and shop foods and necessary supplies needed in the kitchen environment.
  • Maintain the highest safety and sanitation standards, including but not limited to daily cleaning and sterilizing all kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, and general food service area.
  • Prepare monthly breakfast, lunch, and snack menus to be posted and adjusted as needed.
  • Maintain files and paperwork required by the Florida State Health Department & Pinellas Co. Health Department and Licensing Board.
  • Maintain cooperative, working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and walk; stand for long periods of time, twist at the neck and waist; kneel, and climb stairs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to be able to hear conversations in quiet environments. May be required to lift or move up to 50 lbs.

EQUIPMENT USED:

All standard commercial kitchen equipment. Cleaning equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside, as well as delivers meals to classrooms by passing through outside areas. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

MENTAL / MOTOR DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another) with reasonable limits. After training, guidance and reinforcement are infrequently available. The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness. The employee is frequently involved in social interactions, which require oral and written communication.

For those classified employees employed under a written contract for a specified term, nothing contained in this job description shall create a property right beyond the specified duration of the employment contract. Pay may be higher for cross-trained, educated applicants, able to also work in the classroom
