WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW (Job Overview):

Upon joining our team, you will leverage your healthcare and customer service skills to aid in every stage of the blood collection process. This involves teaming up to set up equipment at collection sites, creating a hospitable environment for volunteer donors, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures when collecting crucial blood donations delivered to hospitals. The Red Cross offers paid phlebotomy training to enhance your healthcare skills and advance your career within the top humanitarian organization in the country.

WHERE YOUR CAREER MAKES A POSITIVE IMPACT (Key Responsibilities):

  • Engage personally with donors, listen to their stories, and demonstrate the significance of their donations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to establish a welcoming and warm atmosphere so that volunteer donors feel at ease returning.
  • Maintain attention to detail every day to ensure collected blood meets targets, complies with regulations, and can be safely transfused.
  • Operate Red Cross vehicles, set up and dismantle equipment at donation locations, possibly requiring a minimum height of 60 inches for vehicle operation.

Standard Schedule (Omaha, Nebraska):

  • To cater to donor and community needs, staff work flexible hours that may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Some locations may involve overnight travel.
  • Schedule provided two to three weeks in advance.

Compensation Information:

  • Starting wage $17.46/hr
  • Sign On Bonus: $1,500

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS (Minimum Qualifications):

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication
  • Valid driver's license with a good record
  • Physical ability for heavy lifting, manual dexterity, and adapting to changing schedules
  • Basic computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office

GET AN EDGE (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy background (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.)
  • Prior leadership experience
