Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Bridgewater, VA

Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and skilled Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our educational team in Bridgewater, VA. The successful candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, helping them achieve their fullest potential in both academic and life skills.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
  • Provide direct instruction in areas such as Braille, orientation and mobility, use of assistive technology, and other skills necessary for academic success and independence.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to support the inclusion of visually impaired students in the general education setting.
  • Conduct assessments to determine students needs and progress.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on students progress and services provided.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other relevant meetings.
  • Stay current with best practices in the field of visual impairment education through professional development.

Certifications:

  • Valid state teaching certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired.
  • Certification in orientation and mobility (preferred but not required).
