About Lakewood Regional Support

Our regional support center offers resources to our hotels in various areas including Human Resources, Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Security, Group Reservations, Guest Contact Center, Information Technology, Laundry, and Communications.

This role involves managing all laundry operations, including overseeing production coordination and report preparation to ensure timely responses to the linen/terry needs of Guest Rooms, Food and Beverage areas, employee uniforms, and guest valet services at respective hotels. The responsibilities also entail adhering to operational budgets, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines. Moreover, tasks include managing staffing, recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision within the department.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Maintaining optimal staffing levels through effective forecasting, recruitment, selection, hiring, and training 5%
  • Implementing procedures for the Laundry/Valet department to ensure efficient operations and timely delivery of high-quality products 1%
  • Developing and approving departmental budgets, forecasts, and schedules 2%
  • Establishing and enforcing departmental guidelines, policies, and procedures 2%
  • Scheduling personnel to enhance Laundry/Valet department performance and monitoring payroll reports for budget compliance 4%
  • Creating production schedules to meet hotel department requirements and overseeing activities to ensure schedule adherence 2%
  • Supervising staff, assigning tasks, and scheduling equipment usage to optimize resource performance and productivity 2%
  • Participating in meetings to stay informed about hotel-related activities and information 4%
  • Regular communication with hotel Executive Housekeepers, F&B managers, and Guest Service managers to set production schedules based on specific hotel needs for linen, terry, uniforms, and valet services 3%
  • Coordinating inventory control and replacement purchases for guest room linen/terry, F&B linen, and employee uniforms 3%
  • Maintaining sufficient backup inventories for all linen and uniform requirements 2%
  • Providing relevant information to supervisors for effective departmental operations 5%
  • Conducting necessary meetings to ensure proper communication with department staff 5%
  • Managing chemical usage to maintain production costs and utility usage optimization 1%
  • Generating reports on employee/equipment productivity, linen/terry usage, and performance evaluation for department assessment 10%
  • Scheduling preventive maintenance tasks and monitoring equipment performance for safety and efficiency 3%
  • Staying updated on technological advancements and operational procedures affecting Laundry/Valet department operations 3%
  • Interviewing, selecting, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining department personnel per Loews standards 3%
  • Adhering to New Hire Training and ongoing Star Service Competency program as per hotel policy 3%
  • Identifying and conducting necessary ongoing training in line with Loews Hotels corporate training standards 2%
  • Evaluating individual employee performance, identifying areas for improvement or advancement, and establishing necessary goals, objectives, and training plans 2%
  • Assessing guest needs and industry trends to recommend operational changes ensuring guest and employee satisfaction, market dominance, and financial performance 1%

Qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of modern laundry and dry cleaning equipment operations and production capabilities
  • Knowledge of laundry and dry cleaning chemicals, usage, and safety requirements as per MSDS guidelines
  • Strong managerial, leadership, and organizational abilities
  • Effective written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Education:

  • Preferably a high school diploma

Experience:

  • Three to five years of progressive management experience in a contemporary, full-service laundry/dry cleaning operation in the Hospitality industry or a commercial laundry serving hospitality clients
