Overview

Responsible for supporting the Safety Managers in all job-site office related safety matters at Mastec Renewables. Responsible for safety functions to assist at an assigned jobsite. Conduct site safety orientation, basic safety trainings, job safety analysis, workplace audits and incident responses as needed.

Location & Travel Details:

Opportunity to travel across the US, focusing on sustainability efforts and helping teams build wind and solar infrastructure.

Offering weekly subsistence and base pay to cover living expenses and relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver safety training to support Wanzek and client requirements, including planning, documentation, and presentation

This may include:
New Hire Orientation, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory, etc.

  • Provide Safety Leadership to create enthusiasm and participation among management and craft workers, resulting in excellent safety performance
  • Assist with incident reports
  • Execute the jobsite safety plans
  • Understand lockout/tagout procedures
  • Communicate with Wanzek management on safety matters
  • Ensure safety documentation is complete and accurate as required by Wanzek and regulations
  • Ensure safety activities are properly documented for tracking
  • Administer recognition systems to promote safe work performance
  • Manage inventory of PPE and safety equipment
  • Assist with safety report details
  • Conduct drug screen collections as needed
  • Implement the site-specific emergency response plan
  • Complete other assigned duties
Qualifications

Safety Coordinator:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1 year of construction experience preferred

Safety Specialist:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must obtain STSC within one year of position entry date

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Take care of health and safety of yourself and others, working towards Zero Injury principles
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Write reports accurately with proper grammar
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of hazard recognition, record keeping, injury management, and communication
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies

Working Environment:

  • Exposed to weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high places, extreme heat, fumes, vibration, and loud noise
