Paint Shopman

Under general supervision, a shopman-level painter performs skilled sign painting activities in the production and repair of signs of metal and other materials safely, efficiently and within budget.

This is a swing shift position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Read job orders and inspect work pieces to determine work procedures and materials required Prepares new signs, existing signs, sign cabinets, and sign lettering for painting
• Select and mix ingredients to prepare coating substances according to specifications, using paddles or mechanical mixers
• Maintain production schedules and manage time to complete paint related tasks
• Examine finished surfaces of work pieces to verify conformance to specifications; then retouch any defective area Loads and unloads signs
• Clean and maintain work area to provide a safe and organized work environment Work safely to prevent on the job injuries following all safety regulations

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cleans and maintains equipment
• Delivers signs to Installation crew
• Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned

• Interacts with installation journeyman, apprentices and helpers Interacts with designers Interacts with other departments

• Knowledge involving mixing and spraying paints and color theory is required
• Ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple work activities to meet critical deadlines, as well as working independently
• Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person on telephone
• Ability to operate computer, telephone, and other office equipment
• Strong math skills and the ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints and specifications
• Strong work ethic with an enthusiastic, positive attitude, and the highest level of integrity
• Maintain regular and timely attendance
• Valid Driver's License

Specific vision abilities include:

clarity of vision at 20 inches or less; ability to adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus.

The Employee must have ability to climb, crawl, bend, lift 50 pounds and operate heavy equipment.

• Commercial painting: 3 years (preferred)
