Project Buyer

e-VAC Magnetics LLC, a member of VAC Group, is seeking a qualified and experienced Project Buyer. The position will be located on-site in Sumter, South Carolina. We are currently in the project phase of establishing a manufacturing facility that will house the production of permanent magnets for electric vehicles and defense applications. As a member of the e-VAC Magnetics project team, the Buyer will oversee and complete purchases of materials and supplies in the US and internationally to support the construction of the facility in Sumter, SC. This role will manage inventory, purchasing activities, planning, forecasting, receiving, and meeting the overall supply demands of the production facility. This position is a member of the project team and reports directly to the Project Procurement Manager, with the opportunity of transition to the local operations team on startup.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

• Coordinate purchasing activities with all departments to acquire inventory in a cost-effective and timely manner.
• Monitor and conduct ongoing market research for cost, schedule, and scope of vendors and suppliers to ensure the highest quality at the best price.
• Manage vendor pricing to obtain maximum ROI. Negotiate appropriate contracts for pricing and supply.
• Develop strong relationships and establish material replenishment methods with vendors and suppliers.
• Manage projects with multiple timelines effectively.
• Issue Purchase Orders and monitor the return of acknowledgments.
• Track incoming inventory, delivery arrival times, and note actual arrival times.
• Manage delivery, quality performance, cost, and customer satisfaction for established vendors.
• Oversee the receiving of all incoming supplies, materials, parts, etc.
• Resolve billing and shipping problems and provide information to suppliers.
• Work with team members to develop future purchasing plans.
• Identify and approve potential vendors and suppliers for future project needs.
• Develop purchasing policies and procedures and obtain approval for new policies.
• Act as the liaison with accounting to ensure ERP system requirements are met and vendors are paid in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree in business administration, management, finance, or a related field is preferred.
• CPM/APICS certification is preferred.
• Solid knowledge and understanding of purchasing processes, policies, and systems.
• A minimum of 5 years of related experience as a purchasing officer, manager, or related position in a project environment. Experience managing projects with multiple timelines.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with SAP.
• Experience working with a wide variety of local and international vendors.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to negotiate, establish, and process contracts.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize workloads.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to travel internationally as needed.
• Must relocate or live within commuting distance of Sumter, SC.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Fluent English. Ability to communicate effectively using various types of business correspondence. German beneficial but not required.
