SAFEbuilt has an immediate opening for a highly skilled, ACT 407 registered Mechanical Inspector. This position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of assignments. You'll be a member of our highly respected building department team with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged. • Perform field inspections during various stages of construction
• Review plans and specifications for commercial, industrial, and residential projects to ensure compliance with city, state, and federal laws and regulations
• Perform Rental Housing inspections in accordance with municipal ordinances and regulations
• Report violations and maintain files/records
• Perform other related duties as required

• Extensive knowledge of local mechanical building codes and current construction procedures and technology.
• Interpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutions
• Must possess the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clientele
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills
• Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment
• Skill in prioritizing and executing assignments with limited supervision. Skill in using independent judgment and discretion.
• Ability to work on several tasks simultaneously.

Education/Certification and Experience:

• Must be licensed or qualified to obtain licensure to enforce the State of Michigan Building Code in the category of Mechanical Inspector.
• Experience as an inspector in the state of Michigan preferred.
• Dual licenses preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
