Development Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:

In this role, the Development Coordinator will manage and grow an internal list of annual prospects and donors. They will work collaboratively with the Development Team to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors. Communicate with donors on a regular basis through email, virtual visits, face-to-face visits, phone, and handwritten correspondence. Develop and maintain relationships within the Syracuse community as they relate to Vera House programs and services as well as with like-minded businesses/non-profits. This position will be responsible for creatively and meaningfully engaging donors with Vera House via interactions with key staff, information about programs and organizational accomplishments.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Report results of all gifts/solicitation efforts in the database and to the Director, Development, CFO, and CEO. Generate and maintain updated sponsorship plans and opportunities. Ensure the accuracy of data and records.
  • Process and manage online giving through Raisers Edge, including updates, and maintenance of dashboard. Generate gratitude correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the staff of Vera House to include all programs, services, and support systems. Collaborate with Director, Development to understand and align the organization with philanthropic opportunities. Build and sustain a broad understanding of the Vera House programs and services, outreach, community support agencies, local, regional, and state partnerships.
  • In collaboration with the Development Team, work strategically and collaboratively to identify; Philanthropic Engagement, Gift Planning, Regional Development, to increase giving, participation and engagement, major gift referrals, and to meet fundraising goals.
  • Assist the Director, Development in the planning and execution of all special events including Recognition Luncheon, White Ribbon Campaign, and Annual Gala.
  • Using organization metrics provided by finance, programs, and services, create Winter and Summer Appeals and Annual Report.
  • Provide related assistance wherever necessary to help the Agency achieve its goals and embrace and promote the Vera House mission.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Minimum 2-4 years' experience in related field.
  • Experience qualifying prospects and soliciting gifts while managing all stages of the relationship and building the major gift pipeline.
  • Exceptional relationship building skills with internal and external constituents.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate the case for support.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow through.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt and work in a rapidly changing environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Goal driven team player but also capable of working independently.
  • Blackbaud/Raisers Edge NXT and Greater giving experience required.
  • Must have access to a reliable transportation for travel throughout the area.
  • Knowledge of community-based service delivery systems, in particular thorough knowledge of the criminal and civil justice systems.
  • Ability to develop a positive, compassionate rapport with victim/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or other violent trauma.
  • Strong training and facilitation skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within the Agency, including the adaptability to work well under pressure in demanding situations.
  • Must be able to demonstrate critical thinking and have the ability to solve complex problems.

SALARY RANGE

$23.00-$25.00 per hour/non-exempt
