The role of the Senior Project Controls Manager involves providing project management with key information on Quantity, Progress, and Cost in order to facilitate optimal decision-making for project success. This position oversees essential project functions, ensuring accurate cost reporting, timely data delivery, and vital documentation to field supervision, with an emphasis on thorough analysis and recommendation development before broader dissemination to project and corporate management.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure transparency within the project team and enterprise regarding project issues and potential impacts on cost projections through effective communication. Collaborate with project team and supporting departments to influence construction decisions.
  • Maintain knowledge of contractual requirements, ensuring team compliance and managing contractual changes proactively.
  • Oversee job site document and technical information management, facilitate engineering design information flow, and address and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Manage document control processes, including filing system maintenance and auditing for up-to-date documentation.
  • Contribute to risk and opportunity analysis, conducting special risk studies and managing change processes effectively.
  • Advocate for formal project control processes, oversee project progress reporting, cost projection, and cost reporting, ensuring adherence to corporate policies.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Cost and Earned Value team, overseeing accurate material take-offs, quantity tracking, and cost reporting processes.
  • Supervise the Document Control Team, ensuring proper documentation handling according to corporate guidelines.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff in alignment with corporate guidelines, including performance reviews, talent planning, and personnel management.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Engineering, or Construction Science.
  • 8 - 10 years of relevant construction experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of project cost, earned value, CPM scheduling, and contract management.
  • Strong commitment to Accuracy and Reliability.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
  • Professional Engineer License (Preferred).
  • Primavera P6, @Risk, CMIS, SAP, Oracle Contract Manager, CAD/ConstructSim, Oracle Procurement, Hard Dollar.
  • PMI Certification.
  • VBA.
SUPERVISOR:
The Senior Project Controls Manager reports to the Project Engineer or Construction Coordinator with matrix reporting to a Project Controls Operations Support Manager.

REPORTING TO THIS POSITION:
This role involves direct supervision, typically managing a group of up to ten (10) employees. Responsibilities include workforce planning, task assignment, performance evaluation, and policy administration.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical ability is required for site audits and job walks, including climbing ladders and stairs in industrial facilities. Candidates must be able to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and reaching as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work conditions may entail physical exertion, exposure to environmental elements, and routine travel. The role involves a mix of sedentary and active work, including office and outdoor settings with occasional loud noise conditions. Interaction with various stakeholders is essential.
