New Orleans Surgical Hospital - Housekeeping Position

Summary The core responsibility of the housekeeping role is to uphold specified areas in a clean, hygienic, secure, organized, and appealing manner following established guidelines and protocols.
Essential Functions
- Execute housekeeping and related domestic duties such as vacuuming, dusting, bathroom cleaning, scrubbing, sweeping, and glass cleaning.
- Follow a daily task schedule and submit completed tasks to the supervisor weekly.
- Empty trash receptacles daily and supervise floor cleanliness.
- Dust furniture and desks as per weekly plan.
- Maintain hospital assets, supplies, and tools with a mindset of responsibility and ownership.
- Engage in all training sessions and aid new staff in learning standard procedures.
- Ensure work area safety and appearance; promptly report any hazards to the supervisor.
- Perform cleaning and sanitization procedures after patient discharge to prepare rooms for new admissions.
- Organize utility, storage, and linen areas systematically.
- Carry out assigned tasks as directed.
Physical Demands During job duties, the employee will communicate and listen frequently. It also involves sitting, standing, walking, using hands extensively, and lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adaptable focus. A keen sense of smell is essential.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum of 1-year experience as a housekeeper, preferably in a healthcare environment.
Required Skills and Certifications
- Proficiency in terminal cleaning procedures is mandatory.
