Aquatics Coordinator Position at YMCA

Are you passionate about ensuring the safety of participants in and around the pool? The Aquatics Coordinator role at YMCA might be the perfect fit for you As the Aquatics Coordinator, you will work under the guidance of the Aquatics Director to provide leadership and support to the Aquatics Department, overseeing lifeguards, swim lesson instructors, and water aerobics instructors.

  • Develop and implement in-service training for lifeguards and swim lesson staff.
  • Assist with swimming lessons organization, communicating with parents, and ensuring necessary supplies are available.
  • Enforce facility policies and safety guidelines to guarantee the well-being of all participants and staff.
  • Act as a Deck supervisor during peak hours, managing lifeguards and ensuring smooth operations.
  • Handle member concerns in the absence of the Aquatics Director and assist in recruiting and training staff.
  • Ensure all staff hold required certifications and maintain compliance with operational standards.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations and contribute to staff motivation and goal achievement.
  • Assist in developing new program activities and expanding community programs.
  • Participate in lifeguarding duties, swim lesson instruction, and aquatics program management.
  • Compile program statistics and assess participation levels in aquatic programs.
  • Coordinate and attend special events to engage with the community.
  • Maintain pool supervision during assigned shifts and address maintenance issues promptly.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED with some college coursework.
  • Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and Oxygen Administration.
  • Lifeguard Instructor certification.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in recreation, pool management, or swim instruction.
  • Experience in staff supervision and schedule development.
  • Flexible full-time schedule including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
