Drayage Specialist

SUMMARY: The primary role of the is to complete every aspect of the load dispatching process for Imports and/or Transload freight while consistently meeting and exceeding the customers' price and service expectations. This position focuses on maximizing profit margins and re-enforcing service expectations while building and maintaining relationships with new and existing carriers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Optimize profit margin without compromising service.
• Analyze information received from the carriers.
• Follow up on loaded containers and unloaded containers daily.
• Make follow-up calls for shipments that are delivered daily.
• Negotiate any additional charges with carriers ensuring accuracy of information. Obtain appropriate support documentation if/when needed.
• Provide customer service with finalized LFD details.
• Devising creative solutions to urgent issues
• Communicate with customers, supplier/receivers, and internal departments to ensure shipments are delivered on time.
• Tracking shipments, customs releases, pickup numbers, and LFD ahead of time
• Entering billing data, securing applicable charges accrued throughout the shipment prior to closing.
• Resolve issues that may arise during transit, such as delays, terminal appointments, damages, or any other problems.
• Monitor transportation costs and work to minimize expenses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field .
• Minimum three years' experience directly handling container drayage work within a midsize or larger organization.
• Proficiency in logistics software, route optimization tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
