Responsibilities

Hunter & Associates, staff counsel for State Farm Insurance Companies, is seeking a legal secretary with civil defense litigation experience to join our Tempe, AZ team.

Candidates must be detail-oriented, adaptable, resourceful and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities will include but are not limited to supporting 2 attorneys with 100+ caseload with calendar/scheduling depositions, mediations, hearings, electronic filing with the courts, docketing, processing incoming/outgoing mail, and drafting routine correspondence and pleadings.

You will be working in a hybrid environment, with some required presence in the office and some remote. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs. Office hours are Monday through Friday with flexible hours between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Qualifications

Civil defense litigation experience preferably in the area of insurance defense
Knowledge of Arizona Civil Court Rules to apply in docketing deadlines and proactively working cases
Processing electronic documents/incoming & outgoing mail
Ability to draft documents including pleadings
Comfortable handling/maintaining legal calendar for multiple attorneys
Strong technical agility including power user of Adobe Professional along with Microsoft applications
Accuracy, timeliness and strong technical and grammatical skills are required
Ability to work with moderate supervision
Excellent organization, problem-solving, time-management and follow-through skills
Strong command of grammar, punctuation, spelling and proofreading skills
Has the drive to continue development and expand legal knowledge
Bilingual a plus
