The Senior Automation Engineer creates and automates test scripts, performs test execution, and tracks defects using the defined QA tools, processes, and methodology.

The Senior Automation Engineer will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to automate QA processes and test scripts in order to maximize product quality and value delivered to customers and stakeholders.

The Senior Automation Engineer demonstrates innovative thought processes and introduces new technologies and approaches for automation while possessing practical, real-world implementation skills.

This role is a key independent contributor that partners closely with product and engineering to lead quality efforts in a domain, product or project.

  • Adhere to established Patterson QA standards for Quality Assurance Process and Methodology
  • Collaborate with software/systems personnel in application testing, such as system, unit, regression, load, and acceptance testing methods
  • Participate in new and existing software development and work across products or projects
  • Demonstrates innovation in developing a complete automation solution for reducing test execution cycles, increasing overall test coverage, and improving product quality
  • Create dynamic and everevolving automation scripts that are repeatable and executable by everyone on the QA Team
  • Assist team members with troubleshooting and enhancing automation scripts
  • Participate in research, evaluation and implementation of automated testing tools
  • Analyze software programs and applications to help facilitate automation
  • Analyze requirements/manual tests to determine feasibility for automation
  • Develop and maintain test automation interfaces and automated testing environments utilizing an automation framework
  • Provide regular status as directed throughout the release cycle to the appropriate leadership and development team members
  • Own automation test script execution and lab management process.
  • Act as a core team member of a product or project team focused on delivering customer value
  • Mentor employees

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
In addition to the essential functions listed above, the incumbent may perform the following additional functions.

  • Participate in regulatory and compliance activities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ Years of experience in quality assurance/development
  • Ability to conduct research into softwarerelated issues and products.
  • Highly selfmotivated and directed, with keen attention to detail and able to prioritize.
  • Experience working in a teamoriented, collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of database, cloud, and web technologies
  • Comprehensive understanding of software test methodologies including white box, black box, functional, unit, feature, regression, integration, performance and scalability
  • Experience automating test cases for cloud, web based or desktop applications beyond record/playback
  • Experience with modern programming languages
  • Experience using source code management system.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices
  • Experience building automation frameworks
  • Experience testing and automating secure REST APIs and mobile apps
  • Ability to mentor/train junior automation engineers
  • Experience integrating with release/build pipelines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience as a software engineer a plus
  • Proven experience as automation engineer in a product development environment
  • Ability to quickly comprehend data/information in order to generate new ideas
  • Proven ability to learn and introduce new technologies, trends and ideas
  • A Quality Assurance or Automation focused certification is a plus
  • Software as a medical device and/or dental industry experience
  • Experience in multi browser and cross platform testing

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Office environment - either in Patterson facility or at home/remote location

  • Travel to corporate sites is periodically required (Quarterly or so)
  • Periodic on call rotations and available outside of normal business hours on evenings and weekends during critical production release or issue escalation periods
