REPORTS TO:
Chief Clinical Officer

JOB SUMMARY
- Assess patients and plan care for shift needs in all departments with assistance from nursing staff and department managers.
- Supervision of all nursing personnel in the performance of consistently high-quality patient care.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned unit.
- Interpret information to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Current Wyoming licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Prefer Bachelor of Science in nursing.

EXPERIENCE

- Minimum of two years' experience in acute care of medical and surgical patients, with additional experience in ER, OB, ICU, and pediatric nursing.
- Experience in managing personnel desired.



SKILLS
- Knowledge of medical/surgical nursing principles.
- Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations.
- Ability to assist in writing policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to assume a leadership role and serve as an example to other employees.
- Ability to function independently and prioritize tasks.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
- Maintain and keep current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
- TNCC and STABLE desired.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Staff shift and plan staffing for next shift according to nursing care and standards.
- Assist with patient care in all areas as required.
- Serve as administrative resource person to staff.
- Evaluate quality of nursing care in all areas, making patient rounds as able.
- Oversee admissions, transfers, and discharges during shift.
- Assume responsibility for staff performance during the shift.
- Participate in in-service planning and presentation during the shift.
- Be available and willing to teach as need arises.
- Support administrative and nurse manager's decisions and policies.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
- Adjust daily schedule for illness, emergency, or census influx.
- Document all sick calls, tardiness, absenteeism, and problems with dress code.
- Administer safety policies and procedures as necessary.
- Assure quality of patient care through rounds.
- Call in ancillary personnel and departments as necessary.
- Assure infection control policies are observed.
- Oversee crash cart checks and documentation.
- Assist staff with written care plans and medical record documentation.
- Assume responsibility for supply management.
- Participate in nurse management activities and in-services required by nursing and hospital administration.
- Adhere to legal guidelines and hospital policy regarding release of information and evidence.
- Participate in activities to promote CRH in community health and education.
- Be willing and have the ability to support staff in all areas as need arises.
- Participate in in-service programs as both student and teacher.
- Attend workshops and take responsibility for keeping own knowledge and skills up to date.
- Attend mandatory in-services.
