Our pediatric unit consists of 6 rooms catering to patients ranging from newborns to 18 years old. Nurses are trained to handle post-operative cases (such as T&A, appendectomy, etc.), outpatient procedures, as well as febrile and respiratory illnesses.

  • Nursing skills acquired:
  • Providing support to patients and their families
  • Performing challenging IV starts and venipunctures
  • Adapting communication skills based on patient age groups
  • Recognitions and Achievements:
  • Pediatric RNs caring for infants in postpartum and NICU wards
  • Pediatric RNs assisting with pediatric patients in the Emergency Department

Requirements

  • Associate of Nursing (ASN) degree is mandatory; Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program
  • Basic Life Support certification from the AHA
  • Additional Life Support certifications may be necessary based on unit/department specialization and patient care protocols
