Position Summary:

Uses Arc GIS and various Microsoft Office programs to prepare maps, sketches, reports, alignment sheets, and project specific deliverables. Provides GIS Project Managers, Lead Analysts, and project teams with geospatial information as requested. Interfaces with Mapping, Engineering and Survey to prepare deliverables.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting GIS Project Managers and Lead Analysts in creating all required project deliverables.
  • Assists GIS teammates with sharing, allocating, and balancing workloads.
  • Follows established GIS standards and workflows.
  • Responsible for producing high quality data/maps on a consistent and timely basis.
  • Openly shares work knowledge with GIS team.

Complexity, Decision-Making, Problem-Solving & Nature of Impact (i.e., Scope):

  • Conforms to and utilizes set GIS mapping standards for project deliverables.
  • Follows direction of GIS Project Managers and/or Lead Analysts
  • Identifies and communicates issues or concerns regarding GIS workflow or data integrity.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Extensive experience with ESRI GIS environments (ArcMap)
  • Experience with ArcToolbox 9.x or newer version
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiar with data manipulation/editing and joining tables.
  • Extensive experience in creating/editing shape (.shp) or other geospatial file types.
  • Experience in running ESRI based geospatial reports (Topology, Linear Reference, Intersections, etc.)
  • Ability to follow directions and execute direction with moderate supervision.

  • None

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certifications):

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • GIS Certification preferred.
  • Typically two to four years of related experience
  • Training in computer programs such as ArcMap and Microsoft Office Suite

Environment/Working Conditions:

  • Most work to be performed in office environment with periodic visits to project sites and/or short-term field assignments.
  • Some travel required.

Other Considerations/Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time; manual dexterity; may stand for prolonged periods of time, walk and/or climb through various types of terrain where balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching may be required.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Reports to Lead Analyst or GIS Department Manager
