Role Overview: The Tool & Die Maker's primary responsibility involves scrutinizing specifications, charting out metal supplies, configuring and operating machine tools, and assembling parts to produce and mend metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools by executing the subsequent responsibilities outlined below. The Tool & Die Maker reports to the Chief Manufacturing Engineer.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Review specifications like blueprints, sketches, models, or explanations, and visualize the product to determine the necessary materials and machinery for fabricating parts.
- Prepare and utilize machine tools like lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders to process parts, and confirm the compliance of machine parts with specifications.
- Refine flat and contoured surfaces using power grinders, and connect and integrate parts into assemblies and mechanisms.
- Validate dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
- Apply heat treatment to tools or parts.
- Analyze standard or previously utilized dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and propose modifications to the design concerning the construction and purpose of the part.
- Formulate specifications based on a general description for specialized tools and draft or outline the product's design.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
**If an applicant holds a One-year certificate from college or technical school, they will be evaluated for the Tool & Die Maker A position.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift License mandatory.
Language Proficiency:
Ability to comprehend and interpret documents such as safety protocols, operational and maintenance instructions, and procedural handbooks. Proficiency in drafting regular reports and completing essential production forms. Capability to communicate effectively with colleagues and/or customers.
Mathematical Skills:
Capability to engage with mathematical theories like probability and statistical inference, along with the basics of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Aptitude to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical scenarios.
Logical Reasoning:
Ability to utilize practical common sense to fulfill instructions provided verbally, in writing, through schedules, or diagrams. Capability to tackle challenges involving multiple factors; proficiency in problem-solving.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands delineated herein are indicative of the criteria that an employee must fulfill to effectively execute the fundamental responsibilities of this role.
While carrying out the duties of this position, the employee should frequently stand, sit, and utilize hands/arms. Regular requirements encompass talking, hearing conversationally, and perceiving odors. On occasion, the employee should walk, climb, maintain balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must routinely lift/move objects up to 10 pounds, often handle loads up to 25 pounds, and intermittently lift/move items up to 50 pounds. Relocating/lifting weights beyond 50 pounds mandates aid from another colleague or a lifting device/hoist. The role necessitates specific vision capabilities, including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the occupational duties outlined, the employee will regularly interact with moving mechanical components. There will be frequent exposure to fumes or particles in the air, external weather conditions, and vibrations. Occasional exposure to intense heat and the risk of electrical shock may arise. Typically, the noise level in the work area is high.
Mandatory Personal Protective Gear:
Personnel are mandated to utilize appropriate safety eyewear, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear at all times while within the production facility.
