POSITION DESCRIPTION
  • Title: Specialist of Risk Management
Department: Risk Management

POSITION PURPOSE The aim of the Specialist of Risk Management role is to assist in overseeing systems that identify and mitigate risks, prevent harm to customers, and safeguard ministry assets. The specialist will be involved in various activities such as insurance coverage, claims management, and compliance with risk management standards. They will collaborate with local leadership to ensure the effective implementation of risk management plans.

SCOPE OF SERVICE Customers include patients, families, medical staff, Executive Team, Board of Trustees, Trinity Health, visitors, attorneys, and government entities. The specialist reports to the RHM Director of Accreditation and Risk Management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Understands and demonstrates the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values
  • Maintains knowledge of laws and regulations
  • Supports risk identification and reduction systems
  • Reviews and maintains incident reports
  • Participates in investigations and reporting of adverse events
  • Supports data management and claims management
  • Facilitates educational programs
  • Participates in risk management initiatives and committees
  • Reviews insurance coverage issues
  • Prepares risk-related reports

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Maintains a professional and collaborative work environment
  • Adheres to all patient health and safety regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Works well independently and in a team
  • Effective computer skills and familiarity with various applications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field required
  • Registered Nurse licensure
  • Current Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) certification
  • Minimum three years of healthcare experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet use

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, lift objects, and respond to multiple demands
  • High level of mental concentration
  • Fine motor and manual dexterity skills
  • Ability to travel to different sites
