Description of the Job and Company
Being a Catholic Middle School Teacher at St. Peter Catholic School means embracing the vital role of imparting the Gospel message and guiding students in adopting a Christian approach to life, fostering faith, and nurturing a sense of community. As a teacher, you will create an environment where students can explore and develop their abilities to contribute positively to society while being problem solvers and advocates of fairness in the 21st century.

Under the guidance of the School Principal, you will play a key role in facilitating the academic and social growth of students by implementing an approved curriculum, tracking student progress and activities, addressing individual educational needs, and establishing a safe and flexible learning environment. Moreover, providing constructive feedback to students, parents, and the administration regarding student advancement and expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Embrace and uphold the school's mission, philosophy, and objectives.
  • Design and execute the middle school curriculum in alignment with Diocesan objectives.
  • Foster a conducive school climate that promotes spiritual, academic, and civic growth.
  • Create a safe classroom environment for personalized and group learning to enhance student education.
  • Prepare lesson plans and educational materials to optimize instructional time efficiently.
  • Incorporate Catholic values and faith narratives into daily teaching.
  • Facilitate formal and informal prayer activities and collaborate on religious events.
  • Assess student learning continuously and adapt teaching methods to suit individual needs, including those with special requirements.
  • Stay updated on educational developments by attending seminars, workshops, and conducting research.
  • Maintain accurate records of student activities, grades, and attendance.
  • Encourage parental engagement in students' education and ensure transparent communication.
  • Uphold school conduct policies and cultivate a conducive learning environment.
  • Coordinate with fellow staff to assess curriculum and participate in school activities.
  • Supervise students during off-class activities and standardized tests.
Essential Skills
  • Familiarity with contemporary teaching methods and educational practices that cater to varied learning styles.
  • Thorough understanding of Catholic Doctrine and demonstration of Gospel values.
  • Proficiency in middle school curriculum and subjects.
  • Competence in data analysis, information systems, and action plan formulation.
  • Aptitude for utilizing computer networks and relevant software applications.
  • Effective organizational and coordination skills.
  • Strong communication skills with students and parents.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Commitment to self-assessment for professional growth.
  • Capability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and others.
  • Professionalism in appearance, communication, and behavior.
Qualifications
  • Preferred Illinois State License in the relevant grade level.
  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or High School Education from an accredited institution.
